Whoever delivers to any other person as genuine, or attempts to induce any other person to receive as genuine, any coin which, when he first possessed it, he did not know to be counterfeit, but which he has since discovered to be counterfeit, and does not inform the person to whom he delivers, or attempts to induce to receive it, that it is counterfeit, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.
